Tennis

Tennis is offered throughout the year at Penzance. Every learner, from Grade 1 to 7 has the opportunity to play tennis. Matches against local schools are played on a Monday. Mrs Budlender is a former tennis champion and she manages to get the best out of our senior players, where Ms Jenkins is training the junior teams. Mrs Budlender also has extra technical help to make sure our youngsters are taught the latest skills and techniques.

SPECTATORS CODE OF CONDUCT
The playing of school sport is primarily of an educational nature. The aim of school sport is to encourage participation and to instil in players the highest standards of sportsmanship, self – discipline and control. Parents and supporters need to support these ideals in the manner in which they behave on the side-lines.

For all matches and practices:

  • Parents are discouraged to attend practices as we would like the full focus of players
  • Encourage your child to participate in sport
  • Positive support will be appreciated
  • Help your child to recognise good performance, not just results
  • Encourage your child to learn the rules and play within them
  • Discourage unfair play and arguing with officials
  • Be supportive of all the players on the team
  • Refrain from criticising the opposing team
  • Encourage your child to be a team player
  • Give positive feedback
  • Respect all officials
  • Respect the role of the coach and refrain from coaching your child during games
  • Use correct and proper language at all time
  • Parents and supporters are requested to refrain from directing negative comments at umpires, any other officials, players or opposition supporters
  • Parents and supporters are requested to position themselves well clear of the side-lines and refrain from standing or sitting behind goals. If there are ropes on the side of the field, spectators must always be behind these ropes
  • In the event of an injury, parents and supporters are not allowed on the field. The coach of the team will be called onto the field by the referee and the coach will communicate with you
  • At half time in a game, no parents or supporters are allowed onto the field to pass on refreshments. These must be given to players before a match or to the coach before the half-time team talk

If you feel an issue needs attention please contact the Sports Co-Ordinator at school.
We respectfully request that all parents and supporters ensure that this Code of Conduct is adhered to, so as to make all matches and practises enjoyable for all.
