Robotics:

Introducing block-based programming to learners is an approach we use at Penzance Primary to teach. It offers a tangible way for learners to understand programming concepts without getting bogged down in syntax. By visualizing their code in blocks, learners can focus more on the logic and structure of their programs, which is essential for developing computational thinking skills.

Equipment
Both centres use iPads to do coding. The JP use BeeBots and MTinys robots to help them better understand coding and robotics. While the SP use Lego and Dash the Robot.

Computers:

Grade 1-3 Computers
Students practice their typing skills on programs such as Turtle Diary, Typetastic and KidzType. Students will learn skills on Microsoft word and Microsoft PowerPoint (changing font colour and font size, inserting images/shapes, resizing images and wrap texting images, copying and pasting). Grade 3s will also be introduced to Canva.

Grade 4-7 Computers
Students learn how to use the following programs: Microsoft Word (Text formatting and Paragraph formatting). Microsoft excel (cell formatting, formulas, functions and inserting charts) and Microsoft PowerPoint (Creation and editing of slides, inserting animations and graphics, placing themes and adding transitions)
