Academics
Please see more detail about each phase of education below:
Pre-Primary Academics
Our pre-primary aims at a holistic approach to our preschool education, which means addressing all aspects of a child’s development—physical, emotional, social, and cognitive—in an integrated way. The focus is on laying a solid foundation in key areas such as language development, early maths fields, science exploration and social studies through engaging activities, interactive games and hands on experience. Children are encouraged to explore, question and discover.
Teachers use a variety of methods including play-based learning, group activities and individualised instructions to incorporate diverse learning styles and interests. We are fortunate to have interactive smartboards in our classrooms, enhancing learning in an engaging manner.
Foundation Phase Academics
The Foundation Phase consists of Grade 1, 2 and 3. We aim to give each child personal attention with low pupil-teacher ratios. Every class in Grade 1 and 2 has a Teacher Intern with them throughout the school day. These are young adults who are studying towards their Bachelor of Education Degrees.
Our goal is to develop each child holistically and to instill a love for school and learning. This is done in a supportive, caring, family environment where each child is nurtured and valued.
Every classroom is equipped with an Interactive Whiteboard using the latest technology to bring the outside world into the classroom.
2019 saw the introduction of Beebots. These are basic robots which introduce learners to fundamental coding skills.
Every Thursday morning, the Foundation Phase hold an assembly where learners receive special certificates for their achievements in the classroom that week. These certificates are not just academic, but also focus on manners, diligence, kindness and determination.
Intermediate & Senior Phase Academics
The Intermediate and Senior Phase consists of Grade 4 to 7. A fully comprehensive academic programme is supported by enthusiastic and highly committed staff.
The CAPS curriculum develops and extends learners socially, emotionally, intellectually and physically.
Learners attend Media Science, Physical Education, Performing Arts and Computer lessons which are taught by Specialists in these fields.
Grade 4 to 7 learners embark on various outings and tours. Many of these tours are “sleepover” tours where skills of team work and leadership are encouraged.
At the end of every term, a Merit assembly is held in order to acknowledge those children who have excelled in academics. A Star Awards assembly is also held termly to acknowledge learners for manners, diligence, kindness and determination.
